Over The Weekend

Happy monday, everyone!  I hope that this weekend was good to each and every one of you (and I hope that you are one of the lucky peeps that got thursday and friday off!)

This weekend was a scorcher!  And I mean that sincerely!  And when else would an air conditioner in Texas decide to poop out?  Only during the hottest days, naturally.  And only on a holiday weekend when the electrician is out of town.

So I didn't get to fix up my office the rest of the way (but the above picture is proof I should!) but if we're being honest I probably wouldn't have done that anyway so it was a blessing in disguise, this here turn of events.  Due to the heat I was forced to get my butt out the door to get stuff done when all I would have wanted to do (provided we had an air conditioner) was sit around and netflix my long weekend away!

So, what else?

This weekend we ditched our plans to go to McKinney.  N and I were sitting on the couch on Thursday night, watching TV and eating dinner and he looks over at me and says, "I don't really want to go to McKinney."  To which I replied, "yeah, me neither!"  "So let's not go," he said.  And so we didn't.

In hindsight, my handwriting should have been better.
It actually felt nice.  It felt nice to stay at home and do nothing!  I feel like we are all programmed to go nuts over the thought of a vacation, be it even a little one.  The strange thing is, we had planned this weeks ago but in reality what we really wanted to do was nothing.  It was invigorating in some small, insignificant way to just ditch our "big" plans for some quality home time.  It felt spontaneous, only backwards.  Annnnnd I didn't regret not going one bit.  Except for the fact that we had no air conditioner, but that was the only thing!

So meanwhile, while the air was out in Texas...

  • I went to the local bookstore and set up in the corner, on the floor with some books that I found interesting.  It was nice to get some reading in and it was even nicer to be cool!  Ahh, cool air, how I love thee.
  • I posted myself at the Starbucks down the street and did my blog related things... like reply to some emails and write this post ;) ALSO, a side note, I'm not sure how I missed the memo on replying to comments!  Like, replying so that people would actually receive your reply in their inbox!  So, I learned that this weekend and you guys can now rest assured that I have NOT been ignoring your comments, simply replying to wrong way.  I'm a dweeb.
  • N and I decided that there was no time like the too-hot-to-stay-at-home time to go out for a date night.  We ate at a local salad/soup/potato bar because N said that he was "feeling the buffet" and went to see World War Z.  Awesome movie, by the way.  I'm into zombies so it was right up my alley.  And no slow guys per The Walking Dead.  These zombies could beat feet.  It was really exciting!
  • I've also been running errands galore!  I'm telling ya, we are stocked.  Anything you could want, I've already gotten it.  I've been to WalMart, Target (twice!), Walgreens, World Market, and the grocery store.  Holy productivity batman, I've had a worthwhile weekend.
If you noticed that there were no 4th of July mentions that's because there was nothing to report.  Nothing unless you include how I worked all day.  Sometimes retail is a jerk.  Let's be honest, it's actually all the time.

Please excuse/absolutely adore my use of gifs.  Did I just discover them? Maybe.  Do I love them? Yeah, that's be a safe bet.

Also, N and I have been stewing over some kind of big changes in our little world so I am pretty excited to see what happens in the next month.

  3. Girl yes, retail sucks. Along with restaurants. I hate them both because you never get to celebrate holidays ever again.
