Five on Friday

It's friday and I am bursting at the seams with excitement and relief.  This week has been long and tiring and I am soooo ready for some netflix binge watching of Parenthood, margaritas, and probably some online shopping, if we're being honest.

And here's a few things that I'm thinking about today…

I booked a plane ticket to Austin for next weekend and I am so excited!  Words cannot express how much I love that city.  The first thing I did was call my mom and she immediately started making plans to take me to some new restaurant on 6th street, to an old dance hall, and to an independent play that one of her friends produced.  It's funny because she and my dad would have never done this kind of stuff when I was younger.  I think it's official, my mom is cooler than me.

On a related note, I'd like to rave about Southwest airlines for a quick minute.  I have flown with them countless times and I have never had a bad experience.  Their customer service is always amazing and their rapid rewards program is one of the BEST frequent flier programs out there, in my humble opinion.  My flight was delayed once and I tweeted about it and they promptly replied to me with an apology and some helpful info on getting an earlier connecting flight so that my trip wouldn't be delayed.

I've been hitting J. Crew Factory pretty hard this month.  I am just in love with all the spring colors and since I am a recovering dark neutral-a-holic (at least for this season!) I have to start from scratch, buying up all the pretty pastels and florals.  I wonder how many orders you would have to place to start being recognized among the package packing people?

I have a big heart shaped balloon that says love and it's been floating in the corner of my office since Valentines day.  I say this because as I am typing I noticed that it's starting to float lower and lower so my little balloon buddy is about to be done for.  It's been keeping me entertained though because our puppy is very scared of it.  She just came running in, saw that it was lower to the ground then froze and slowly backed away, out of the room.

I have been dealing with a bit of a blogging identity crisis.  I love blogging, I really do, but I am starting to feel frustrated with some aspects of it all.  I feel like it's been easier to lose sight of what I really wanted to accomplish with this thing.  I think that we all go through this at some point or another so I realize it's a minor little bump.  Blogging is so open ended and there are so many ways to do it so I know that I'll re-find a routine that works for me!  But all that to say I might change up some content on here and it might seem a bit direction-less but I promise, it's going somewhere. :)

I hope you all have a great weekend!

On Friday

It's been a week.  Y'all know what I mean, right?

I'm not sure what it is but I have been completely exhausted, despite my getting to bed earlier.  I actually ended up going to the doctor for this reason and hopefully they can shed some light on it…

Even though I missed a few posts this week I'm back with a little recap of my week.

This picture is kind of cheating since it was taken a while back when we were hanging out in McKinney.  It was right after we went to Kendi's shop.  Downtown McKinney is a dream and I've been thinking about taking a little weekend trip in that direction.

I've been doing a lot of working from my bed.  It's nice but it also means it easy to slip into TV watching mode and start catching up on How I Met Your Mother.  For any of you who watch it, do you just love the mother?  The whole time I was thinking that when we finally met her I would see her as an outsider but the more and more I see of her the more adorable she is.

I snapped this picture one morning this week when I got up for work.  I went to do my hair and makeup and when I came back, Ellie had snuggled up into my spot.  The sweetest.

And lastly, this.  This guy was riding his horse through a neighborhood and he is about to ride past a grocery store.  This looks like it's in the middle of nowhere but it just happens to be an empty lot.

When I was in middle school I had a friend that moved to Florida.  When she came back to visit she told us that people would ask her if Texans rode horses to school. No, of course not.  But in this guy's case, sometimes the Texas stereotypes turn out to be true.

Side note, there is actually an old barn in the middle of my college campus because students used to be able to pay their tuition in livestock.  Just a little fun fact.

I hope you have a great weekend!

The Week in Instagrams

Oh it's friday, you guys!  I'm going to keep it short and sweet this morning because I have an early work day today but I'm linking up for High Five for Friday again this week so enjoy a few instagrams...

I've been consuming copious amounts of strawberries.  Call it a summer thing I guess, I just love them.  Top them off with some whip cream and I am in heaven.

Just checking out some classic reads at the book store.  Don't mind me sitting on the floor.  That's totally a thing.

I am a sucker for throwback thursday, you guys.  So yeah, this is Max when he got his first bath.  Hard to believe this guy is a whole 80 pounds now.

My morning scene.  As I mentioned before, I'm slowly becoming a morning person.  Slowly but surely.  And it's actually been quite nice.

This is actually from a few weeks ago from my trip to Austin but The Oasis people.  The Oasis.  One of my favorite places to eat in my hometown.  And the margaritas are pretty good to boot.  If you're ever visiting, make the trek out there.  Also, that's not my hand, that would be my dad's, just to clarify ;)

High Five For Friday

Happy Friday everyone!  I hope you had a great week!  I was MIA for a bit of it, so sorry 'bout that.  But giveaways!  I have two of them this week. Holla!  Here they are:

Once again I am linking up with Lauren for #H54F... and you should too!  Show us your week in pictures and add your link :)

  1. When I went home to visit my parents I started that dreaded process of cleaning out all my things (because my parents think I'm old enough that I need to take all the rest of my things that I left when I moved out - phhht!).  It actually turned out to be pretty interesting though... I found these notebooks from middle school.  One is devoted entirely to a novel about two girls in the 17th century.  No lie.  And the other is a notebook that my best friend and I wrote back and forth to each other in.  Needless to say, after I found these babies, I didn't do much else.
  2. French toast is my all time favorite breakfast food and my mom surprise-woke me up with it on Wednesday morning.  There was perfection in all that powdered sugar-y goodness.
  3. Also, while cleaning, I hit the goldmine of 90s boy band collections.  All backstreet boys, N'Sync, 98 Degrees, Hanson, annnnnd O-Zone. They're all there.  And they may have flown back with me.
  4. Mornings have seriously become my thing.  It's blissful how quite the house is at 7am. And how cool my office is.  LIke, the sun hits it just right in the afternoon and it gets HOT.  Good lighting for pictures though, so we'll just focus on that.
  5. So yeah, I can count and stuff... thats only four!  I know, right?!  Can we just chalk this up as a week spent too in the moment for pictures?  That's the only excuse I've got, guys.  Buuuuut... while I've got ya here, follow me on instagram.

#H54F

Oh, Friday!  I am so happy that you are here.  Please never leave??  Also, please let me drive this one home... I am on vacation!  Im not doing a lot (and I will still be blogging!) but I am not working and that is cause for celebration is it not?

And what better way to celebrate than to join in on the High Five for Friday fun #h34f #fun

but really guys, I'd love to see what your week was like, so says instagram, so go link up with all of us.  You want to and you know it!

We went to the drive in for a double feature and it was glorious!  This is the best thing about this small(ish) town.  Its still got some of that charm.

So we still have 5 puppies.  Five little furry rug rats that never. calm. down.  I am so serious guys, energy out the ears. I can't even.

We had a horrrrrible thunder/lightning/rain/wind/potential (but never actual) tornado storm.  It was so intense that we had to wait it out at work because the wind outside would knock you clear down.  It wasn't until a few of us brave gals decided to make a run for it that anything was actually accomplished.  And accomplished we were!  So much so that I made myself a cake, because well, I was a bad-a.  Also, my adrenaline that resulted from running at full speed in the rain was still in high gear, so I couldn't sleep.  So that too, I guess.

Anyone ever read An Object of Beauty?  Me neither.  But I started it today and so far, brilliant.  But I'll let you know.

I walked my german dog this week.  Who never gets walked, ever.  So it was super interesting to be pulled down the street by this 70 pound dude. I guess we should have started him as a puppy.  #badparents

Soooo... for real, link up! and happy weekend!

High Five for Friday

Hey guys, it is Friday!  My week has been chock full of stuff.  I've just finally gotten to sit down and relax, so my friday is treating me well.

Since it is Friday, I am linking up with Lauren from From My Grey Desk for her High Five For Friday link up! So here is what my week has looked like:

Plane views > any other views.  They are just awe-inspiring

Homemade pizza on an experimental homemade crust

Margaritas on Lake Austin.  Oh how I love that city.

And more dinner... Macaroni and Brownies.  I never claimed to be good, guys.

And a little home state pride, because I love Texas.

How was your week?  Let us know and link up :)

High Five for Friday (plus a few)

Hello!  I am once again linking up with Lauren at From My Grey Desk for her High Five for Friday link up!  Pop on over and join in.

This week has been eventful.  So eventful in fact that the 5 for friday is becoming the 7 for friday on my little blog this week.  So we'll call it the High Five for Friday with a few to grow on.  Moving on...

1 With the move coming up in a hurry I feel the need to pre-shop.  I can. not. help. it.  I am so excited to decorate our new place that I have been frequenting Target, perhaps a bit too much.

2. My Thursday night consisted of drinking wine while helping my former roomie pack for her big girl job move to Chicago!  I would be jealous until I remember that this means I have a free place to stay whenever I get the urge to go.  While sifting through stuff I found a little kitchen plaque we bought for our very first apartment when we were little freshman babies.  I wrote a little note on the back and quickly stuck it into a box so she'd find it when she unpacked.  I left the sticker to remind us of the meagerness of our decorating budget - and how excited we were to be buying our first pieces of "art."

3. Deciding on my Warby Parker frames was difficult, but someone has to do the hard stuff.
4. This is a throwback but I loved it and had to share.  Max got cut out but I can assure you, he was super precious as a puppy.

5. And here he is now.  Making weird faces and stuff.  But seriously, stop doing that with your mouth please.

6. This is my, 'how am I ever going to get everything together before we have to be out of our house?' face.  And this is where you may say, 'maybe you should stop shopping and actually pack - and learn to be sneakier, I can see those clothes in the background...'

7. Wake up call.  This is how I am greeted in the morning by my Ellie - complete with some nudging and kisses.

How was your week?

High Five for Friday

So it's friday again, and thank goodness!  Work is short today so that makes it even better.  I'm linking up with Lauren at My Grey Desk for High Five for Friday! Check it out.

  1. Ellie - she's the official pillow tryer-outer in our household.
  2. Wining and dining with my best friends from college - it doesn't get any better than sangria and pizza with the ladies that got me through school.
  3. Basically what we eat on nights when Nick and I both work.  Healthy? no. Delicious? of course.
  4. My man took me to my favorite restaurant, Orlandos. What a sweetheart.
  5. Had a wonderful night at La Diosa with friends, sat on couches and sipped wine and listened to this local band of two play songs by Buddy Holly and The Eagles.
How was your week?
